$60 million Hotel Panorama breaks ground

The Hurley Hotel Group has officially commenced construction on the $60 million Hotel Panorama on Goodwood Road with completion of the project expected to be in early 2026.

Sarah Constructions, a South Australian, family-owned company has been awarded the construction, their other projects have included d’Arenberg’s The Cube and the Hurley’s Marion Hotel.

The design of the hotel is by local firm Cox Architecture who have also designed the Adelaide Oval Hotel, Adelaide Botanic High School and Her Majesty’s Theatre redevelopment.

When complete, the five-storey Hotel Panorama will offer a total hospitality experience with a casual cafe bar and restaurant featuring a cosy sunken fire lounge, gaming room and a fun sports bar on the ground floor with a great outdoor area under the gum tree featuring a huge three metre outdoor screen. There will also be a rooftop bar with multiple function spaces on the fifth level with stunning views of the ocean, city and Adelaide Hills.

The hotel will also include three levels of accommodation with 77 rooms over three levels, including 26 serviced apartments, with one and two bedroom and even a honeymoon suite, it will be the perfect place to accommodate guests visiting the nearby Flinders Hospital, Repat Health Precinct, Flinders University, Tonsley Innovation Precinct and the South Australian Leisure and Aquatic Centre.

Hurley Hotel Group’s Anna Hurley says, “The Hotel Panorama represents the largest investment in the history of our family business. We are thrilled to be making this investment in South Australia and are excited for the future of this area and the state.”

“When we found out the Tonsley Hotel would close we were heartbroken to say goodbye to a local institution. We are very glad we can continue to service the local area with the new hotel. We have paid homage in the design to the history of the area with a mid-century design while also maintaining elements from the Tonsley Hotel such as the Chrysler memorabilia,” Anna continued

We look forward to working with the locals to make it a very special place in the community where people can make memories and come together with their loved ones. The Hotel Panorama will be totally unique in Adelaide’s suburbs, a full-service hotel with everything under one roof,” Anna concluded.

The Hotel Panorama will create 100 jobs during construction and 160 ongoing hospitality and tourism jobs once open.

As part of the Hotel Panorama project, the Panorama Hurley Cellars has recently opened boasting an extensive range of premium wines, imported and local beers as well as standard and high-end spirits. Features include a three-lane drive-thru, premium wine room, temperature controlled walk-in cool room and a tasting table to host frequent tastings and masterclasses.
